History. Tranquility. Luxury.  A stay like no other at the 4 Star Dunadry Hotel And Gardens in County Antrim.

The History

Built on the site of an ancient fort, this former Linen Mill oozes history rich with stories and traditional features which are now complimented by its modern and contemporary décor following its £4million transformation.

Stepping through the large latched door of Dunadry Hotel And Gardens you will be walking into the historic Rotunda part of the original Mill.  The walls are lined with the shields of the ancient coat of arms representing the 32 counties of the Island of Ireland and flag poles which represented the 4 provinces of Ulster, Munster, Leinster and Connaught, as Dunadry (The Middle Fort) once was the seat of Ireland’s High Kings.

The impressive fireplace which sits proudly in the middle of the hotel is quite the talking point. But, how did it really become part of the historic interior? There is quite a few theories, most people (and us) are lead to believe that the fireplace was taken directly out of Antrim Castle. The Ulster Architectural Heritage Society however have noted that it is fact that it was built from decorative stones used in the entrance of the Botanical Gardens in Belfast.  Either way it is the perfect spot to relax with an after dinner drink.

From there you will find the famous Copper Bar, whose name derives from the model of the Bushmills Distillery process which adorns its wall. The Copper Bar is admired greatly for its distinctive look and design, as the Wooden Beetles from the Linen Mill were incorporated into the hotel’s interior.

Not only will you get lost in a time gone by, but you will be mesmerized by the phenomenal internal grounds which are nestled on the banks of the Six Mile River, just waiting to be explored.

The Gardens

Our grounds are just as rich with stories and historic significance as the hotel itself. In our main garden you will see two giant lime trees sitting proudly in the middle, known as the region’s Peace Tree. These two magnificent trees have grown together for over 100 years now making them inseparable. In 1998 this tree became symbolic of two sides coming together with the signing of the Good Friday agreement.

Take time to discover the beautiful landscaped lawns, century old Mill Race river walk, Walled Garden, Enclosed Courtyard and not forgetting the Secret Garden down by the Waterfall.   Stay in one of the luxurious Garden Executive Rooms and enjoy direct access on to the large internal garden and views of the iconic Peace Tree, The perfect spot for an al fresco breakfast or to enjoy drinks in the Summer sun.

Say hello to the residents Picasso and Snowy, our beautiful peacock and peahen, who are often seen roaming grounds, they even have their own bespoke craft beer named in their honor and available at the bar.

The grounds truly make for the perfect backdrop to your visit to County Antrim.

The Food

The final ingredient to a fantastic stay is the delicious local seasonal menus created by Head Chef Greg Ferguson and his team.  Drawing influence from the gardens and the changing seasons the team use the finest ingredients to entice the taste buds.

Accredited by Taste of Ulster for the last two years and recommended by the Georgina Campbell Guide you can expect a great culinary experience.  A table overlooking the six mile river in the Mill Race restaurant compliments the food experience and the knowledgeable and friendly team ensure you have the perfect drinks pairing.
