Soon passengers travelling from Ireland to France will experience new high levels of cruise ferry comfort beyond anything previously imagined when the magnificent new W. B. Yeats enters service.
Set to be the largest and most luxurious cruise ferry ever to sail on the Irish Sea, the new vessel will have space on board for 1,885 passengers and crew.
Named after the acclaimed Irish poet, the W.B. Yeats will operate up to four return sailings weekly on what is becoming an increasingly popular route for the summer season between Dublin – Cherbourg.
Spread over four decks, passenger accommodation will consist of 440 cabins, amongst them luxury suites with views out to sea from their own private balconies, as well as a choice of deluxe and standard class accommodation. Described as being ‘truly cruise class’, on-board facilities will include a choice of bars and lounge space, waiter service á la carte and self-service restaurants, cinemas, a shopping mall and an exclusive Club Class lounge with private passenger access direct from the vehicle decks.
Between Ireland and France, Irish Ferries offers more sailings than any other operator. Sailings from Rosslare to Cherbourg and Roscoff are operated by the luxurious cruise ferry ‘Oscar Wilde’.
Often compared to a top hotel, Oscar Wilde is equipped with a choice of 2, 3, 4 and 5-star cabins, coupled with a number of premium suites, a selection of restaurants and lounges, two cinemas, a Piano Bar and Café, promenade decks and much, much more.
Onboard entertainment includes a children’s play area, gaming zone and facilities such as a hair and beauty salon, free Wi-Fi internet access and mall style shopping.
Other attractions that turn crossings into a cruises include the enjoyment of listening to strolling musicians and entertainers and complimentary access to the sparkling Wilde Nights cabaret that plays to packed houses. Each evening features a programme that includes an eclectic mix of hits from the musicals, Celtic classics, ballads and high energy dance numbers, all accompanied by a resident band and termed by some ‘the greatest show afloat’. For younger passengers, an action-packed bill includes films, games, a treasure hunt, magic show, kiddies’ disco, costumed characters and a special play area.
Once in France, visitors can enjoy enormous value in wine, DIY and other consumable items. From the charming regions of Normandy and Brittany, the fashionable Cote D’Azur and Mediterranean coastline, picturesque Loire Valley and romantic Paris, France has everything – even the appeal of Euro Disney.
Irish Ferries’ convenient arrival times, mean motorists could be visiting the Eiffel Tower by mid-afternoon or wine tasting in the scenic Loire Valley by evening. Little wonder it is one of the world’s top holiday destinations.
Coupled with the requirement to arrive at the port just one hour before departure, Irish Ferries reminds passengers that when travelling by sea, there are no restrictions on what you can carry.
By towing a trailer, all of the extra holiday equipment can be packed – for camping, cycling, mountaineering, hiking, surfing, skiing, canoeing, hang gliding and so forth. For families, a motoring holiday is an exciting experience which begins the moment you start the engine. Whether your destination is France or further afield in Europe, the choice and value on offer can be truly amazing.
