After what feels like an endless winter, the weather is finally getting warmer and summer is almost upon us. Most people are eagerly awaiting their holidays, but which cities should you visit this summer?
For a new study, Travelbag analysed Instagram and TikTok hashtag data for 100 cities to reveal which locations offer the best summer backdrop for your next Instagram post or TikTok video.
London ranks as the world’s most Instagrammable summer destination, with nearly 161,417 Instagram posts tagged #SummerinLondon
The UK capital once again takes the top spot for a picture-perfect summer, after also ranking first for most popular destination in Spring. The hashtag #SummerinLondon has been used over 160K times on Instagram, as well as has almost 21 million views on TikTok. Many Brits and tourists alike are celebrating the sunny weather by enjoying a stroll through one of the capital’s many parks or along the river, or even enjoying a refreshing drink in a beer garden.
Paris closely follows London with 150,164 Instagram posts and 13.7 million TikTok views. If you’re heading to the city of love, why not enjoy the summer weather on the Champs de Mars located at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. Germany’s capital, Berlin, ranks in third place with 62,621 Instagram posts but slightly fewer TikTok views (4.9 million).

New York City and Chicago are the most popular summer cities in the US on TikTok
New York City is the world’s most TikTokable summer-time city, with an impressive 52.3 million views for the hashtag #SummerinNewYork. The city is known for its hot summer days, so why not enjoy an ice cream in Central Park, or visit one of the many museums if you want a break from the heat.
Chicago (16.1 million TikTok views) and Phoenix (4.3 million) follow behind in second and third place. Known for its desert heat in summer, Phoenix may not come to mind for a summer trip. But from great hotel deals to cooling off in water parks, the city has plenty of things to explore.
