Niagara Falls maintains its worldwide recognition, taking first place with over three million hashtags

Using Instagram is like logging into a world of picturesque and enticing opportunities. Many look to it for inspiration on where to eat, what to buy, and even our next holiday destinations.

A good way to choose this next getaway is to consider which areas have the most ‘Instagrammable’ tourist attractions. For instance, famous waterfalls.

So, which waterfalls around the world have garnered the most attention?

By collating the number of hashtags per waterfall, Showerstoyou.co.uk has identified which natural phenomena, three of which are considered Wonders of the World, have been Instagrammed the most and are therefore worth visiting.

In first place, Niagara Falls is the world’s most Instagrammed waterfall.
While one of the smallest by size (51m), it appears the famed romantic destination hasn’t lost its appeal, raking in a total to date of 3,008,732 hashtags.

In second place is Iguazú Falls. Argentina’s picturesque waterfall and Wonder of the World has been visited a still incredible 343,037 times.

The USA’s Multnomah Falls claims third place on Instagram. One of Oregon’s biggest tourist attractions, physically and figuratively, boasts 261,020 hashtags on Instagram.

The 4th – 10th most influential waterfalls to visit include:

  • Victoria Falls (Zambia) – 236,117 hashtags.
  • Gullfoss (Iceland) – 234,512 hashtags.
  • Skógafoss (Iceland) – 218,094 hashtags.
  • Yosemite Falls (USA) – 170,215 hashtags.
  • Seljalandsfoss (Iceland) – 139,668 hashtags.
  • Havasu Falls (USA) – 130,208 hashtags.
  • Bridalveil Falls (USA) – 127,020 hashtags.
