THE SOUND OF SUMMER – UK FESTIVALS BY ROAD TRIP

After two years in the wilderness, the summer festival season is back with a bang!

Festival-goers looking to make up for lost time and visit a much-missed music festival can do so in the comfort of their own private space by booking a campervan with Yescapa. A campervan festival stay means friends and family can enjoy a relaxed, fun-filled weekend of music and entertainment, knowing that they can cook, sleep and even shower in their home away from home.

Yescapa, the leading peer-to-peer campervan and motorhome rental platform, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2022, offers some comfortable and stylish vans so that, even if the British summer weather takes a turn for the worse, festival lovers can have an altogether more luxurious (and dry!) experience.

So let loose, don the hunter wellies and an outrageous ensemble (take inspiration from Harry Styles’ sequinned Gucci tracksuit at this year’s Coachella…), and spread a bit of festival sparkle. Explore some fabulous UK summer festivals along with these suggestions for the perfect Yescapa campervan:

Latitude Festival, Henham Park, Suffolk: 21- 24 July
Latitude is a family-friendly festival in the wilds of the Suffolk countryside: the vibe is relaxed and laid-back. Featuring multiple music stages highlighting indie and pop musicians, headliners include Lewis Capaldi, Foals, plus legendary Snow Patrol, as well as live comedy from Frankie Boyle and Russell Howard, theatre performances, podcasts and poetry readings. There is also a chance to get active with wild swimming, paddle boarding and yoga.

Camp Bestival, Lulworth Castle, Dorset: 28 – 31 July
Camp Bestival offers lots of family fun, with activities for children such as a family silent disco and farmyard circus, and some cracking musicians and bands. 2022’s headliners not to be missed include Fatboy Slim, Rag ’n’ Bone Man, Becky Hill, Rudimental and Sister Sledge. The festival also offers theatre performances and shows from children’s favourites such as Horrible Histories, Dick and Dom, and Mr Tumble. For a spiritual connection and relaxation, there is yoga (including kids’ yoga), sound meditation and gong baths.

Wilderness Festival, Cornbury Park, Oxfordshire: 4 – 7 August
This magical festival in the Oxfordshire countryside offers an otherworldly vibe with a myriad of alternative performances, activities and workshops, from learning circus skills and bathing in lakeside hot tubs to willow weaving, flower crown workshops and secret parties. Dance around listening to the 2022 headliners – Underworld, Years & Years, and electronic dance group, Jungle.

Boardmasters, Newquay, Cornwall: 10-14 August
Combining surfing and music into one big festival, Boardmasters is perfect for beach bums. Situated right on famous Fistral Beach, just outside of Newquay, there’s a mix of dance, indie, rock, and hip hop alongside outdoor activities including kayaking, coastal running, and, of course, surfing lessons. Witness some of the best surfing in the UK with a surf competition and enjoy 2022’s headliners – George Ezra, Disclosure, and Kings of Leon.

Reading & Leeds Festivals: 26 – 28 August

These urban festivals are for the die-hard music fans who want to get up close to rising and established indie bands, metal groups, hip hop, and alternative pop acts. An enduring rite of passage for a teenager and a great introduction to festival culture for the young UK festival-goer, Reading & Leeds are not to be missed. This year’s festival line-up includes Dave, Megan Thee Stallion, Arctic Monkeys, Bastille, and Halsey.
