The Best Staycations for Travellers who Hate Everyone

Most secluded British holiday destinations for those who dislike the company of other people revealed

A leading holiday rental marketplace has revealed the most secluded British holiday destinations for those who dislike the company of other people, after recent research shows that the number of people taking solo holidays has increased three-fold since 2011. A castle in Aberdeenshire tops the list of the best places to stay if you hate other people.

One of the UK’s leading marketplaces for holiday rentals has revealed the best places to stay for travellers who dislikes human interaction and want to escape society.

Snaptrip.com has announced the UK’s loneliest staycations for those who prefer to holiday alone, after internal data from the site revealed an increase in bookings made by solo travellers, as well as recent research from the ABTA that shows a rise in this trend.

According to Snaptrip, Strathdon Castle in Aberdeenshire is the best place to stay to be as far away from other people as possible. The 17th Century Scottish mansion is set in the middle of eighteen acres of grounds, with the nearest convenience store over nine miles away.

The top five best holiday rental properties for travellers who hate other people are:

  1. Strathdon Castle, Aberdeenshire
  2. Napoleonic Fortress, Gosport District, Hampshire
  3. Apple House, Tyringham and Filgrave, Tyringham
  4. Hex Cottage, Sibton Park, Sibton
  5. Rock View Shepherd’s Hut, Devon

Snaptrip’s internal data shows a 29% increase in properties being let to solo travellers, which corroborates research from travel trade association ABTA that shows solo holidays have tripled in demand in the last eight years, with one in six people now choosing to travel by themselves.

The same study found that having the opportunity to do what they want is why 76% of respondents travel alone, while 63% chose the ‘chance to take some time out’ as the main reason for solo travel.

Matt Fox, CEO and co-founder of Snaptrip.com, said,

“Sometimes you just need to get away, and we totally understand that. In today’s busy society, you can find yourself running around with a to-do list as long as your arm, so it really is important to take some time out for yourself and switch off for a bit.

“Our aim at Snaptrip is to help people find the best holiday rental at the best price, and if that means driving out into the middle of nowhere, so be it!”
