Switzerland’s Second-Largest Castle Reopens for Visitors Following 15 Year Renovation

Switzerland’s second-largest castle, Grandson Castle, reopens its doors to the public following it’s fifteen year restoration.

The medieval castle will welcome visitors this April 2026, allowing guests to explore the restored interiors up close, bringing centuries of history to the present.

Situated on Lake Neuchâte, Grandson Castle is recognised as a nationally listed monument following its history in the Swiss Canton of Vaud.

Vistors can take a journey through one thousand years of history – a new immersive exhibition spanning three floors and fifteen exhibition areas. A main highlight of the experience includes the exploration of the Battle of 1476.

Guests can also enjoy the new revitalised spaces that promise a dynamic cultural experience, blending heritage, preservation with innovative storytelling designed to engage visitors of all ages.
