Six Christmas Dessert Inspired Cocktails to Satisfy your Sweet Tooth

Sipping on an evening cocktail at any time of the year is a guaranteed mood booster, but adding some festive dessert flavours around the Christmas period can be a real e game-changer when improving on your mixology skills.

Drinks retailer The Bottle Club have compiled their favourite pudding-inspired  cocktail recipes to help satisfy any sweet cravings.

Serve up one of our indulgent pudding flavoured cocktail recipes as an alternative to dessert, with ingredients and recipes listed below:

  1. Christmas Cake Martini

Whether you’re a fan of Christmas cake or not, we think everyone should try this delightful cocktail that is simply Christmas in a glass. We promise your guests will love it, even if they have filled up on too much turkey to face an actual dessert!

Ingredients:

50ml Whisky

5ml Cognac

5ml Cherry Brandy

5ml Lime juice

Handful cherries

Pinch of cinnamon

Method:

To create, add each of the ingredients and some ice to a cocktail shaker, shake well and strain into a Martini glass.

Add a cinnamon dipped cherry to serve.

2. Gingerbread Espresso Martini

Whilst many crave an after-dinner caffeine hit, the Gingerbread Espresso Martini offers the perfect December twist on a modern-day classic. .

Glasses with a wide top and tapered bottom are known for cocktails such as  margaritas and martinis. This is a delicious cocktail that has maximum impact with minimal effort and is a great liquid alternative to dessert.

Ingredients:

  • 50ml Vodka

  • 25ml Espresso

  • 15ml Gingerbread syrup

  • 3 coffee beans

  • Pinch sugar

  • Pinch cinnamon

Method:

  1. Add the ingredients to a cocktail shaker and shake hard for 15 seconds or until condensations form on the outside of the shaker.

  2. Fine strain into your cocktail saucer and garnish with espresso beans

  3. Using an extra-modern glass will really create style in the drink and showcase the froth on the top of the drink.

  4. Simply shake together all ingredients with ice and strain into a sugar and cinnamon rimmed glass.

  5. Add the coffee beans to serve.

3. Nutella Martini

If your sweet tooth comes alive at Christmas, this is the perfect cocktail for a cosy winter night in. It could even save you having to make  dessert (or perhaps not). You might not have considered  putting your favourite nutty spread in a cocktail before, but Nutella, vodka and amaretto are truly a match made in heaven. Recipe below.

Ingredients

  • 400ml whole milk (or swap out for nut milk)

  • 2 (very) heaped scoops of Nutella

  • 1 heaped spoonful of cocoa powder

  • 3 shots of Smirnoff Red Label Vodka

  • 2 shot Amaretto

  • Ice

  • Additional Nutella & chopped hazelnuts (for garnish)

Method

  1. Gently heat the milk in a pan, with the Nutella and cocoa powder

  2. Stir until smooth and sufficiently warmed through

  3. Spread some Nutella onto a side plate, and cover another plate in chopped hazelnuts

  4. Dip the rim of your glass into the chocolate and twist

  5. Once dipped in the Nutella, dip the glass into the pile of nuts

  6. When your chocolate milk is nice & cold, pour into a cocktail shaker and add the vodka and Amaretto

  7. Shake it and enjoy!

4. Cinnamon Martini

A winter take on the traditional Espresso Martini, a Cinnamon Espresso Martini is just the thing you need to get you through those rainy days and cold nights.

Ingredients:

  • 60ml Monin Cinnamon Syrup

  • 60ml vodka

  • 60ml espresso

  • 1-2 tbsp cinnamon sugar

  • Cinnamon sticks and coffee beans for garnish

Method:

  1. Pour roughly 30ml of the cinnamon syrup on a small plate and cover it with your cinnamon sugar.

  2. Gently run the rim of the martini glass over the mixture – your cocktail glass is now decorated and Instagram ready!

  3. In a cocktail shaker, combine your vodka, espresso and 30ml of syrup and give the contents a good old shake.

  4. Strain the drink into your glass and garnish with your coffee beans and cinnamon sticks.

5. Biscoff Martini

Just when you thought an espresso martini couldn’t get any better, behold the Biscoff espresso martini. Perfect for those looking to impress a date, or for a fun night in with friends…

Ingredients:

  • Ice

  • 2 oz. Vodka – The Bottle Club recommends Smirnoff’s espresso vodka

  • 2-3 oz. Lotus Biscoff sauce or spread (if you get the smooth spread we recommend you heat this up so it makes a lighter consistency for your martini. To do this you will need a small pan of boiling water and a bowl – melt as though you would butter)

  • Biscoff biscuits for topping

How to make:

Add the ice, vodka, coffee liquor and lotus sauce/melted spread together in your cocktail shaker. Shake it up, pour into a martini glass and enjoy.

6. Midnight Mint Hot Chocolate

This boozy mint hot chocolate recipe is the perfect nightcap on a cold evening, made with dark chocolate, double cream and a touch of mint liqueur; it may well keep you up past midnight, but it’s the perfect warming treat for those who love a mint choc-chip flavour.

Its main boozy ingredient here is Créme de Menthe, a classic ingredient in many cocktails. Its sweet minty flavour is accompanied perfectly by rich dark chocolate to create a sumptuous blend.

Ingredients:

  • 50ml double cream

  • 1 tsp icing sugar

  • A few drops peppermint extract

  • 150ml whole milk

  • 50g dark chocolate, chopped

  • 25ml crème de menthe

  • Dark chocolate curls or sprinkles

Method:

  1. Whip the cream in a small bowl then stir in the icing sugar and a few peppermint extract drops. Place in the fridge until needed.

  2. Pour the milk into a saucepan and heat gently until simmering, stirring frequently. Take off the heat then add the chocolate.

  3. Stir until the chocolate has completely melted and the mixture is nice and smooth.

  4. Return to the heat until warm then add the crème de menthe.

  5. Pour into a glass mug, to help keep warm and top with a dollop of the whipped mint cream and chocolate curls or sprinkles.
