In 2024 travellers are seeking a break that will reboot and refresh their systems and are booking destinations and accommodations that offer a holistic approach to well-being. Statistics reveal a significant increase in bookings for wellness retreats, spa resorts and nature-centric accommodations, with a staggering 30% year-over-year growth, according to Booking.com’s 2024 trend report. Tuolumne County can offer just that, the blue zone destination is abundant with fresh mountain air, and easy outdoor activities will help reset, with several cosy, rustic and serene accommodations to choose from.

Spend the day horizontal

For visitors looking to enjoy some luxuries alongside adventure in the great outdoors, there are several luxury accommodations where they can spend the day resting after exploring the surrounding wilderness. Rush Creek lodge offers some unique spa treatments, the spa is built to mimic what visitors will encounter when they explore Yosemite, spa goers can enjoy an Aromatherapy Steam Room, a Himalayan Salt Block Sauna, a Cool Mist Room, and Warm Waterfall Coves. Opening in May, Firefall Ranch Resort will sit near the northwest entrance of Yosemite National Park, and will be the perfect basecamp for visitors heading into the national park. The Ranch will offer guests understated luxury in serene meadowland surrounded by forested rolling hills, with standalone cottage and villa accommodations as well as amenities such as a pool, fine dining restaurant, tavern and wine room.

Go on a ‘soft’ adventure

For an adventure in the great outdoors that doesn’t require climbing gear, Tuolumne County has plenty of easy hiking trails to enjoy. The Little Golden Forest Trail is a 2-mile hike, perfect for those exploring with kids, sponsored by Little Golden Children’s Books and the National Arbour Day Foundation, the trail is a nice loop through the Stanislaus National Forest.  For something a little more adventurous the Carlon Falls trail is 3.8 miles and takes hikers into Yosemite National Park, along Tuolumne River, finishing at the beautiful Carlon Falls, and as the trail starts outside of the park, walkers can avoid entrance fees.

Absolute peace and quiet

Visitors hoping for a bit of peace and quiet will find just that in the mountains of the High Sierra, the area is best explored on horseback or on foot with plenty of easy trails to follow. For those keen to explore cowboy style there are several pack stations that offer leisurely half-hour rides or to go further a day ride into the mountains to enjoy long alpine meadows, beautiful lakes and an abundance of wildlife. Visitors can also explore the charming mountain town of Twain Harte, named for authors Mark Twain and Bret Harte, the town is a great basecamp for an easy-going adventure in the surround mountains.
