Orlando Travel Tips for Families

Orlando, located in central Florida, is home to some of the best amusements parks and attractions in the world - with so much to do in one place, it can sometimes be overwhelming for families who are trying to fit everything in

Northern Ireland Travel News Online spoke to Sarah from American Holidays who let us in on her top Orlando travel tips for families to ensure that you and your loved ones have the perfect holiday.

Here’s Sarah’s Top Tips

Planning – Walt Disney World Resort

An Orlando family holiday really isn’t complete without a trip to one of its famous theme parks. Walt Disney World Resort is still a firm favourite with Irish families who descend on the resort for its thrilling rides, over-the-top parades and unforgettable evening spectacles.

A great tip for families is to research the park and plan ahead for the day, you can download and view maps and parade times online ahead of your trip.

Get the opening times and know in advance what rides your kids can and can’t go on, this will save you a lot of time, energy, and hassle.

If there is a particular show or parade in Walt Disney World Resort that the family want to see then get there early in order to secure a good vantage point.

Mind your Money

Keep in mind when visiting theme parks that the rides and water slides do not allow you to carry a bag or any other loose accessories. Save time waiting for the lockers and wear a money belt.

This holds your money, phone and any other small essentials that you may need throughout the day.

International Drive

Visit international drive, one of Orlando’s most popular and vibrant streets. Packed with heaps of fun and kid-friendly attractions this street is the perfect place to spend the day.

Without a car, it can be difficult to get to around the area – this is where the I Ride Trolley comes in handy. Hop on and visit the Orlando Premium Outlets and the many key areas along International Drive. One way fares are a steal at $2pp.

Jump off at WonderWorks, an upside-down building and watch the kid’s faces light up!

Feeding Time Fun

Dinner time does not mean the family fun should stop. Eat and be entertained with a variety of dinner shows such as Medieval Times and Pirate’s Dinner Adventure.

Sit back and enjoy the kid-friendly dinner drama, with acrobatics, music and the most entertaining actors. Everyone in the family will love it. Tables in these restaurants are always in high demand, so if there is a certain restaurant you desperately want to dine at, make reservations as soon as possible.

Family Friendly Beaches

For a break from all the action plan a day trip and take the family to one of Florida’s stunning beaches for a day of fun in the sun. With so many stunning beaches to choose from it can be hard to choose.

Cocoa Beach is one of the most popular family beaches because of its soft sand, crystal clear waters and serene vibe.

Have lunch by Cocoa Beach Pier, let the kids take a surf lesson or simply spend the day building sand castles and dipping your toes in the water.
