From 17th – 18th August, wine enthusiasts will gather at the heart of an ancient Nabatean city for two wonderful evenings at the Negev Desert Summer Wine Festival, bringing the city back to life and providing a multi-sensory experience in an area steeped in wine-making history. As well as having the opportunity to taste the best of what the region has to offer, visitors will lean about ancient  cultivation techniques and its influences on the modern wine industry – secrets that been rediscovered in recent decades and are incorporated in modern Israeli desert winemaking – producing excellent wine in extreme arid conditions.

The festival will take place amongst the remains of the Nabatean city of Advat, a UNESCO world heritage site. Visitors will have the chance to explore the ancient Byzantine city and enjoy the cool afternoon breezes, before attending the festival for an unforgettable evening backdropped by the incredible desert sunsets. Organisers have put together a wonderful line-up of events and entertainment that include live music, tours of vineyards and lectures, as well as having top-rated chefs on hand preparing one-off festive meals.

Boasting 14 wineries and 18 majestic vineyards, the Negev region is growing into a popular agritourism destination and with the area’s unique blend of modern innovation and traditional farming, it offers visitors an authentic journey into an area that has cultivated wine for more than a 1,500 years.
