Riptide by Vance Joy is the most popular addition to bank holiday road trip playlists, according to new research by UKcaravans4hire.com.
Ahead of the August bank holiday, the online booking platform reviewed over 25,937 songs across 125 of the most popular road trip and summer-related playlists on Spotify to uncover the most crowd pleasing songs and artists in order to create the ultimate road trip playlist.
Indie anthem Riptide by Vance Joy was the most popular pick, featuring across 36 of the playlists, closely followed by One Kiss by Scottish artist Calvin Harris (28 features) and the best-selling single of the year As It Was by Harry Styles (28 features).

The most popular featured artists across the playlists were Taylor Swift, whose songs were featured 188 times, followed by One Direction (159 features) and the Glee Cast (151).
Tommy Hamer, Customer Service Specialist at Encore Musicians, said: “Ultimately, all of these songs tick the boxes of being crowd-pleasing, singable, nostalgic and upbeat.
“There is a constant theme of summer nostalgia amongst the big hitters on these playlists. Even songs which have only been around for a couple of years (As It Was – Harry Styles) or, in some cases, months (such as Flowers – Miley Cyrus) conjure images of hazy summer evenings and dancing with family and friends. Meanwhile, longer-standing classics such as Dancing in the Moonlight by Toploader serve a similar purpose.
“These are all songs which everyone can sing along to, whether that’s a packed-out people carrier with a family of four and two dogs in the boot or a group of friends off on a summer reunion. A good singalong can certainly help while away hours on the road, even in standstill bank holiday traffic”.
