Giant’s Causeway Among UK’s Top 10 Romantic Locations

Where do you think is the most romantic place in Northern Ireland?

Well, if you are looking to take a trip to a location where love will blossom, you have a few choices.

According to a recent Mills & Boon survey, the Giant’s Causeway on the north coast is the 10th most romantic spot in the UK.

In addition, the Dark Hedges in Co Antrim, which rose to prominence after it was featured in Game Of Thrones, secured a mention in the top 20. The Isle of Skye’s Fairy Pools was named the most romantic place, with Grasmere in the Lake District and the city of Bath completing the top three.

The survey said beautiful views and a touch of luxury are key ingredients to spark the right mood for love.

Over 2,000 people took part in the poll commissioned by romance experts Mills & Boon. The survey also revealed that across the UK, 94% like to put the roam into romance as they believe a summer holiday is the ideal way to spend time with their partner.

Waterside locations appear to be a favourite for lovers as most places which make up the top 10 are in close proximity to sea, rivers or waterfalls.

However, the five key factors for a romantic location in order were beautiful views (69%), luxury accommodation (55%), warm climate (49%), fabulous restaurants (39%) and amazing walks (33%).

A list of romantic places was drawn up by a panel of travel experts from UK travel, news and magazine publications and was whittled down further in the poll.

Each of the top 10 UK places was then celebrated in a specially-commissioned Mills & Boon short story set in that location.

The shorts, whose titles include A Scandalous Liaison On Skye and A Passionate Portmeirion Proposal, was released earlier this summer.
