From learning to press olive oil, to exploring the local lakes and islands, here are some of best family friendly excursions to enjoy on the island whilst staying at Angsana Corfu

Angsana Corfu, a new-to-the-scene upscale resort with sweeping views over the twinkling Benitses Bay is one of the best new family friendly stays in Greece. From its excellent kids club, expansive child-friendly amenities and private beach club, it also makes the perfect base to explore Corfu.

This charming island offers something to suit everyone, from the youngest to the oldest. Visitors can enjoy secluded beaches best reached by boat, Mediterranean hills and forests, archaeological sites and the unique UNESCO World Heritage Old Town – with its variety of Venetian, Turkish, French, British, Italian and German architecture.

And for children, there are dozens of great activities on offer throughout the island. For younger guests, make sure to visit one of the nearby water parks, some of which include floating courses, rope swings, slides and many more water-based adventures designed for kids. You will also find lazy rivers, waterslides and adventure pools – all suitable for a fun family day on the island. And as one of the greenest islands in Greece, everywhere you turn provides the perfect excuse to get outside and explore – from hiking and bird-watching, or snorkelling or swimming in the island’s crystal clear waters.

Here are some of our favourite family-friendly activities to experience in Corfu:

Corfu Aquarium
For young budding marine biologists, a visit to the Corfu Aquarium is a must. Suitable for all ages, families are able to explore the aquarium at their own pace, discovering the variety of creatures in the paradise island’s waters. Alternatively, a guided tour is offered, allowing the kids to expand their knowledge on marine life and take in the variety of species in each colourful tank.
Mavroudis Museum Olive Mill
Another fantastic family friendly activity on the island is to visit a traditional olive oil press. The island is home to the “Lianolia Kerkyra”, an olive tree variety native to Corfu – some of which are 700 years old. And at the Mavroudis Estate, there are over 2,000 of these trees! Families can enjoy an education day out, learning all about this traditional olive mill – they will even get to participate in the olive oil pressing, before tasting the award-winning olive oil with homemade bread and local delicacies.

Bioporis Organic Farm
Located right by the scenic Lake Korission, this 70 acre farm and olive grove offers a unique insight into local farm life. Visitors can wander amongst the olive tree groves, learn about bees in the farm’s bee society, as well as learn about the sheep, horses, donkeys and chicken. Make sure to stay for lunch – it’s served on the farm’s traditional terrace and serves up a delicious menu of local and organic produce.

Casa Parlante
For a slightly more unusual outing, why not visit Casa Parlante, a dolls museum in the heart of Corfu. Set in a 19th century noble mansion, this experience aims to bring history to life with a unique insight of bygone Corfu. Through animated figures, robotic technology and a perfect recreation of décor and furnishing, this experience delivers a fascinating and true understanding of the history of Corfu society.

Ride a Skyrian Pony
Suitable for all ages, catch a ride on a Skyrian pony into the mystical forest and arrive at the Equine Centre not far from Angsana Corfu resort. Here you have the option to enjoy yoga, ‘healing with horses’ and riding lessons. There is also the opportunity to ride on the beach or mountains if you would like to explore a change of scenery. All of the activities on offer cater to different ages and ability, making this trip an ideal family excursion.

Sailing to Paxos and Antipaxos
The nearby islands of Paxos and Antipaxos are well worth a visit, located not far from the southern coast of Corfu. Local provider Ionian Cruises offers an excellent full day tour to these islands, as well as visiting the famous blue Caves of Paxos. Perfect for active families, there are plenty of swimming and snorkelling opportunities, as well as time to explore the picturesque village of Gaios. And don’t forget to looking out for the friendly resident dolphins!

North to South Coastline Adventure
Explore the Corfiot coastline and its beaches with a day trip from north to south, giving you the exclusive opportunity to bask in the richness of nature. Enjoy the freedom of driving your own boat out into the sea, and take things at your own pace.  Surrounded by crystal clear waters, spot flamingos within the Natura site as well as secret water caves only accessible by sea. This adventure also allows you to snorkel and swim – the perfect activity to discover more about the landscape and geology. End the day at the beach with an impressive sunset surrounded by your family.

Back at the resort, you can find The Rangers Club which is a dedicated house with space for kids and an outside kids’ swimming pool, which provides social opportunity as well as supervised activity. Professional educators and entertainers will enrich and curate the day of kids between 4-12 years old. Relax knowing the resort in child-proof and inclusive to all ages. For adults seeking some rest after busy days exploring, they can enjoy the award-winning Angsana Spa.
