French Mountains: Winter Wonderland

Find out what the French Mountains have to offer... Check out the perfect day!

The snow has reportedly been falling on the French summits. It’s time to dust off the ski gear to find out what the French mountains have to offer.

Our perfect day would involve going down some of the best ski slopes, taking a pit stop to taste delicious local food, followed by a wellness retreat, before ending the day resting in one of the newly opened hotels.

SUNRISE
… Wake-up in the Alpin Cocoon:

Imagine; the sun is rising and the rays of the sun are going through the majestic 160° panoramic window, you are guaranteed to want an extra five minutes in bed contemplating the nature and its white surroundings. Waking up at the Alpin Cocoon in Les Orres is a truly unique experience. Opening on the 13th of September, the nine unique geodesic domes offer high-end stays in luxury rooms.

EARLY MORNING
… Enjoy the fresh snow:

Listen to the fresh snow crackling under your boots before putting on your skis. Now you can ski downhill and stop at the 3400 metres-high Soreiller summit, to take a picture from the suspended platform overviewing The Ecrins Massif. It’s an unforgettable holiday souvenir to bring back home.

LUNCH …
Traditional gastronomy in a shepherd hut:

The fire is crackling in the chimney and it’s time to cosy up. In Les Menuires there is a shepherd hut, l’Arbe de Pepe Nicolas, an authentic place to taste some of the best local food. On the menu are sharing boards, peasant-style bacon, chunks of local Tomme cheese, mountain salad, tomme, gratin, pot au feu with its winter vegetables, and Savoie cake, enough to keep you going through the afternoon.

MOUNTAIN RETREATS…
A trip to find your inner journey:

Mountains are not all about fast sliding down slopes on your skis, it’s also a great time to relax. Various options are offered to find serenity, calm, and peacefulness such as the ‘consciousness ski’ in Les Contamines-Montjoie, an activity combining breathing technics, skiing, mountain meditation, and snowshoes to re-energise your inner self with nature

END OF THE DAY… Live an authentic mountain experience:

Wait for the sunset to walk to one of the 4 villages of Val D’Arly. Stroll around to be amazed by its traditional architecture of wooden chalets and explore one of the local heritage treasures, the Church of Saint Nicolas la Chapelle. It’s the ideal authentic mountain experience far away from the crowds.
