Ski season is here and every winter, the UK racks up 26,512 Google searches for ‘ski holiday’ between the ski peak (November to May) as many prepare to flock to Europe onto the snowy slopes.

An exclusive guide to Europe’s top ten resorts for après, created by Uniqlo has revealed the best places to ski or snowboard this wintertime, where you can expect to find the best nightlife, spas and shops. By analysing data from Google maps, TikTok and Google search data along with TikTok viewing figures related to resorts, Uniqlo has created a scale-weighted rank to find the top 10 resorts for après– whatever your après style.

Winter sports holidays are often synonymous with luxury, encompassing exclusive dining, designer boutiques, lavish spas, and 5-star accommodations. For those seeking a lavish couple retreat this winter, Switzerland and France stand out as the premier destinations.

Zermatt is a popular choice with over 241 million global TikTok views. The Swiss resort claims the top spot, boasting an impressive array of 23 high-end shops, 14 luxurious spas, 9 top-tier 5-star hotels, and 12 restaurants featured in the Michelin guide.   The average price of accommodation is slightly higher than other resorts at £324.67 for a double room per night but the resort itself exudes luxury. It also promises breath taking views– at an altitude of around 3,883 metres between Zermatt and Breuil-Cervinia lies Switzerland’s highest ski area: the Matterhorn Ski Paradise. Expect gourmet experiences, unforgettable views and an amazing mix of blue, red, black and yellow runs.

2. Courchevel, France

Next on the list is Courchevel in France with 15 spas, eight luxury shops, 13 5* hotels and 12 Michelin star restaurants. Boasting 402,000 views on TikTok, the French Alps ski resort is located in the Terentaise Valley and is famous for its luxurious experience. Both pretty and peaceful, the world class ski resort has over 600km of slopes to explore in the Three Valleys Ski area. Once done with exploring, there’s plenty of activities from spas and luxury shopping to Michelin star restaurants making it perfect for couples.

3. St. Moritz, Switzerland

Another Switzerland-based resort makes it into the ranking with St. Moritz. Here, skiers and snowboarders can explore eight spas, 12 luxury shops, seven 5* hotels and 15 Michelin star restaurants. This resort is often known as being suited to intermediate skiers and snowboarders but there are runs still suitable for beginners. Also popular on TikTok, this ski resort racks up more than 254 million views on TikTok globally. Here, there is 150 kilometres of cross country ski trails perfect to work up an appetite ahead of visiting their one of their 15 Michelin Guide restaurants.

4. Megève, France

Also boasting 15 spas and coming in at the fourth spot is Megève in France. Once done in the spas, travellers seeking luxury can choose between 10 Michelin guide restaurants for dinner, five luxury shops for shopping and 7 5* restaurants. When it comes to skiing, the resort is excellent for beginners with nursery slopes at all the main lift bases as well as some wide-open gentle beginner areas for those still finding their feet with skiing/ snowboarding.

5. Chamonix, France

French resort Chamonix rounds up the top five largely thanks to its high number of luxury shops (14). A popular choice among winter sport lovers with a total of 175 million TikTok views. It also offers nine spas, seven 5* hotels and seven Michelin star restaurants making it a firm favourite for those looking for the perfect après ski experience as well as great slopes in the daytime.
