Eat Smart at Eat Street… and Don’t Forget a Crumb’s Cupcake!

Eat Street on Belfast’s Lisburn Road is Belfast’s newest 100% vegan restaurant. I’ve eaten from their lunch menu before, but this was my first visit in the evening – and I brought my husband Alan along for a treat!

It’s BYOB (that’s code for bring your own plonk – wayhay!) but as it was a weeknight we opted to forgo the temptation and instead opted for an Elderflower Juice and a Chocolate Ice Cream Shake.

Normally the husband and I have to ring ahead a few days in advance to make sure a restaurant can cater for vegans, so one of the best things about Eat Street is that EVERYTHING is vegan – from the Seitan Steak with Roasted Portabello Mushroom, Tomatoes, Fries and Bushmills and Black Pepper Sauce to the ‘Bacon’ and Cheeze Burger served with House Slaw, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Smoked Mayo and Skinny Fries prepared fresh by the innovative in-house chefs.

Not to mention the delicious Cupcakes, Brownies and Cookies baked fresh by the extremely talented Louise at Crumbs Bakery. You really can’t make a wrong choice here!

I opted for the ‘Bacon’ and Cheeze Burger… a firm favourite, and my husband tested out the Pulled Pork Burger… another winner! Both came with House Slaw and Fries.

We also asked if they had any Onion Rings available (I had tried them before but they weren’t on the menu that night). The chef made them up specially for us, and they were presented in tree form… stacked largest ring on bottom to smallest on top – fantastic! They have our vote to be a permanent menu item.

After that we were too stuffed for dessert, but that didn’t stop us ordering one of Crumbs’ Chocolate Cupcakes and a Chocolate Hazelnut Cookie to take with us.

Whether you’re vegan or not you should definitely check this place out – everything is delicious. It’s located at 231 Lisburn Road, tucked away a few doors down from Shu Restaurant.
