Discover The Delights of Jersey

The Channel Island of Jersey enjoyed its time in the spotlight as the location of episode four of the hit BBC One show, The Apprentice

The Channel Island of Jersey enjoyed its time in the spotlight as the location of episode four of the hit BBC One show, The Apprentice.

Welcoming 15 hopeful entrepreneurs to its shores, Jersey was featured as the main location for the latest task, which saw contestants head off around the 9×5 mile island in search of quintessentially Jersey products. From Jersey Royal potatoes to Jersey Apple Brandy and a 7ft surfboard, the task not only tested contestants’ negotiating abilities but also their navigation skills as they traverse the island, against the clock.

Tricia Warwick, CEO at Visit Jersey said: “We were very excited to see our beautiful island shine on-screen in the latest episode of The Apprentice, and for millions of viewers to learn more about the local traditions and delicacies that make Jersey an incredible place to visit.”

“Viewers enjoyed a front row seat to Jersey’s tourism offering, including our superb local foods, stunning landscapes, rich history and heritage sites, and of course, our friendly community. We were delighted to work with The Apprentice team on filming, at a time when we are also actively working to grow Jersey’s visitor economy in the near- and long-term.”

“Like many of our visitors, the cast and crew were able to pack a lot into a short space of time, exploring all corners of our island. Filming started at sunrise at the majestic Mont Orgueil Castle on the east coast and finished in dramatic style with a sunset at Corbière Lighthouse, on the west of the island. I express my thanks to our on-island partners for their co-operation and support in ensuring the success of filming and look forward to welcoming new visitors inspired to explore Jersey after watching the show.”

Eagle eyed viewers may have already spotted the Channel Island of Jersey in promotional videos for The Apprentice, with contestants racing towards the finish line at the spectacular Corbière Lighthouse, before the tide comes in.

Teeming with beautiful beaches, brilliant outdoor adventures, charming local activities, cultural hotspots, and a burgeoning foodie scene, Jersey is just a short hop from mainland UK, with flights taking under an hour from many UK airports. Alternatively, the island makes for an excellent slow travel destination with ferry crossings from Portsmouth and Poole, and 15mph Green Lanes to encourage a slower pace of life and ease of accessibility for cyclists and walkers.

Tune in to BBC’s The Apprentice to see Jersey come to life on screen and be inspired for your next short-haul trip.
