Delights at Birr Castle Demesne’s World Class Heritage Garden this Autumn

When planning trips for autumn make sure that Birr Castle Demesne is on your list

When planning trips for autumn make sure that Birr Castle Demesne is on your list. With its abundance of rare plants, collected by the Earls of Rosse on their travels around the world over the last 150 years, the delights of nature await you. Artists, photographers and nature lovers
will be inspired by the golden colours. New this year and covering just over 5km is the magnificent Red Tree Trail which includes 65 Trees of distinction.
The Trail is included in your general admission ticket prices, and you can pick up a map at reception.

For those with a little less time the X-trails Solar Trail, drawing on the historical heritage of Birr Castle Demesne allows you to experience the size,
distance and scale of our Solar System along the 2km route. Be inspired and gain a new perspective and appreciation of the planets, our sun and
our place in space. A lovely way to pass the afternoon this is suitable for ages 7 and above.

Forest Bathing remains a popular draw for many visiting the Demesne, where a fallen tree near the fernery, with sunlight coming through
the branches, birdsong and flowing water sounds in the background awaits you. At Birr during autumn you can try your hand at the Japanese
spiritual practice of shinrin-yoku or Forest Bathing, which literally means taking in the forest through our senses. Spending mindful time in the
woods is beneficial for both the body and the soul.
