CHEAP AS CHIPS: Turkey Triumphs In TravelSupermarket’s Bargain Beach Breaks Index

Antalya and Dalaman top the charts for Bargain Beach Breaks

In the third edition of TravelSupermarket’s CHIPs Reports (Cheap Holiday Index Platform), the leading UK holiday price comparison website unveils the cheapest fly-and-flop destinations for holidaymakers. The prices here include the average cost of seven-night holidays, including the price of sun loungers/parasols and a bottle of beer from the beach bar, per day.

1st Place :

Coming in at number one this year is Turkey’s all-inclusive capital, Antalya. For just £422, holidaymakers can enjoy a seven-night, room-only package holiday (plus seven days’ worth of sun loungers and an ice-cold beer per day) on the glorious Turkish Riviera, where the average daily maximum temperature remains as high as 31 degrees in September.

 2nd Place :

Consumers don’t have to look far for this year’s second-cheapest summer destination. Dalaman is another firm favourite for UK holidaymakers, and for the average price of £426, consumers can secure a seven-night, room-only package holiday, including the abovementioned extras.

3rd Place:

Corfu, an ideal late summer destination – with average September temperatures of 28 degrees – is next on TravelSupermarket’s list of top 10 bargain beach breaks with week-long package holidays costing consumers £475 per person.

Runner Up :

Spain is home to four and five on the list: Fuerteventura and Costa Blanca. Consumers can secure a package deal to the ever-popular Canary Island, Fuerteventura, for just £488, whilst UK tourists can secure a late deal to the white coast in the Alicante Province where the average price of week-long holiday is £501.

At number six, we head back to the Greek islands with Crete, where the average per-person price on the Mediterranean will cost UK tourists just £518.

Bourgas, Bulgaria, has grown in popularity over the last few years, and last week, came out as the cheapest five-star holiday destination in the most recent edition of CHIPs. Although Bourgas hasn’t performed as well as last week, consumers can still find great value in the Balkans, with the average price of a week-long beach break also costing £518.

To round out this series, we head to Cyprus. In ninth position, we have Larnaca, where travellers can expect to find package holiday deals for an average price of £532Paphos comes in at £538.

Just missing out on the top 10 :

The UK family-favourite holiday destination, Tenerife. The largest of the Canaries, Tenerife offers year-round sun for UK families, with temperatures hovering around the 27-degree mark throughout September. Travellers looking for a late escape this year will be thrilled to learn that the average price of package holidays on the volcanic island is only £541.

FYI:

Holidaymakers with sights beyond the horizon will be interested to know that, despite the average price of a package holiday to Dubai costing £1,220, beachgoers will not have to pay for sun loungers or umbrellas. Consumers who are looking for something more exotic can head to Cancun for £1001.

Chris Webber, Head of Holidays and Deals at Travel Supermarket: “With the summer holidays well underway, we are finding plenty of incredible last-minute package deals for couples looking for some late summer sun. The data shows that holidaymakers looking to find late value in the market should be looking at Antalya and Dalaman, where week-long package breaks are costing consumers around £50 less per person than the third cheapest beach destination, Corfu. With 1,000’s package deals available for comparison, TravelSupermarket should be the go-to place for UK consumers looking to maximise the remainder of their summer.”
