CRACKING VIEWS AND CRACKLING FIRES

Each lodge and igluhut has its own private terrace, with all the amenities you need to enjoy the sun and stars in Suffolk’s open skies. Almost zero light pollution means you can enjoy incredible opportunities for amazing stargazing. Borrow the communal telescope and use one of the recycled wool blankets to wrap up warm as you look to the skies. An outdoor fire pit, a personal BBQ, dining table and chairs, and cosy blankets all help you to prepare for an evening outdoors in the chilly autumn air. The onsite honesty shop also sells a wide range of carefully selected locally sourced produce. Hot chocolate from nearby Pump Street Chocolate, handmade marshmallows and plenty more to accompany your evening outdoors.

Nowhere is more conducive to relaxation than one of two on-site iglu saunas. Each sauna has space for up to six people and has its own separate changing area. With a beautiful birch wood exterior, your secluded sauna experience is nestled and hidden amongst the woodland and surrounded by natural willow screening for full privacy.

To maximise relaxation, and reconnect with nature as much as possible at Blyth Rise Stays, guests are encouraged to put screens down. There is no wi-fi in either the lodges or the igluhuts, providing the perfect opportunity and encouragement to step away from laptops and phones. Each lodge and igluhut has a selection of classic boardgames, and in the honesty shop you will find a book swap, in addition to plenty of puzzles to borrow, keeping you entertained without the need for an internet connection.

Leaving the screens behind gives visitors plenty of time to synchronise mind, body, and soul with an outdoor yoga class from resident instructor Katie. Re-connect boy & mind while appreciating the stillness and beauty all around you. The site is alive with wildlife- rabbits & hares, deer and foxes plus a wide range of birdlife. Easily spotted from your terrace, from one of the many paths around the site, or even from the comfort of your armchair!

SEASONAL FOOD AND LOCAL PRODUCE

Suffolk is renowned for excellent food produce which means you are spoilt for choice when it comes to places to eat or buy food. Sit and relax in a cosy pub alongside a roaring fire with a warming drink or a glass of one of the county’s award-winning beers. Meander along the country lanes through the towns and villages and find a large collection of pubs and restaurants, many still with their thatched roofs and painted in an array of colours. The Kings’ Head is one such pub that is only an eight-minute walk from Blyth Rise Stays. Choose from a selection of beers from small local breweries served straight from the cask.

Take a trip to Framlingham market for a selection of local produce. Framlingham’s twice-weekly market, running since the thirteenth century, continues to be popular with locals and visitors alike with its friendly atmosphere, wonderful location, and fabulous fare. Visit the wide array of stalls including Flipski & Kirkus, for hand-made artisanal country stoneware, Born Bread Co. for artisan-baked breads, cakes & savouries, or Jamboree Bag, for vintage clothing, boots & accessories.

If you want to stay closer to home, you can pre-order farm shop fruit & veg boxes, fresh bread and breakfast hampers and even ready meals from the local deli- all delivered to your lodge or Igluhut for your arrival. There is a wider selection of locally-produced food in the on-site honesty shop, from award winning cheese, sausages and salamis to gelato, cakes and chocolate. The best of Suffolk right on your doorstep!

ADVENTURES IN NATURE

Situated at the origins of the River Blyth, which winds itself through the Suffolk countryside and joins the sea between Southwold and Walberswick, Blyth Rise Lake is home to a diverse range of wildlife, flora and fauna. In autumn the air is crisp and fresh, and the summer heat has subdued, providing the perfect conditions to explore. Discover the shrubs with their coloured berries and the ever-changing wildlife of the lake.

In addition to ten acres of landscaped land, Blyth Rise Stays offers easy access to local footpaths to take you through the picturesque Suffolk countryside, or to stroll into Laxfield away from roads.

For those wanting to explore further afield, Suffolk is a great place to enjoy winter walks on the beach. You quite possibly may have the whole beach to yourself during the winter months. This makes them the perfect place for blowing away the cobwebs, stretching your legs and enjoying the exhilaration of just being out in the open with just nature all around you. With a wealth of AONB, National Trust, and English Heritage sites to explore there is plenty to experience nearby.
