Autumn at Villa Lena, Tuscany

The agriturismo and artists residency in rural Tuscany introduces an exciting new programme of activities for the Autumn season and October half-term 2021

Villa Lena, the popular artist retreat and agriturismo in rural Tuscany, is delighted to announce a new seasonal programme of activities on offer from September onwards. Throughout the autumn, Villa Lena promises a truly unique break in the mild Tuscan sunshine, providing the perfect post-summer getaway for families, friends and couples looking for a unique break, surrounded by nature.

Truffle Season at Villa Lena

With the onset of the fleeting tartufo bianco (white truffle) season in the region, Villa Lena will host guests for traditional truffle hunts helmed by the highly skilled agriculture team and Lagotto Romagnola dogs. There will also be the opportunity to experience fresh truffles in the best possible way; finely shaved over homemade Tuscan pasta, accompanied by a glass of Villa Lena’s own sparkling rosé – a true gastronomic and sensual experience. Villa Lena has introduced a bespoke Truffle Weekends package for the autumn season that includes a two night stay, truffle hunting, pasta workshops and lunch with wine, creative workshops and more.

In line with truffle season, Villa Lena will also be hosting a creative retreat from the 15th-18th of October, celebrating Tuscan produce with workshops from local craftsmen and creatives. Celebrating the changing seasons, wild foraging and local crafts whilst Tuscany is at its most breathtaking and bountiful during the infamous ’tartufo bianco’ season. Daily workshops and food experiences are led by collaborators and artists in residence along with movement classes with the Villa Lena yogi in residence. Communal feasting in spectacular settings across the estate will feature a specially curated menu, showcasing autumnal Tuscan produce including foraged funghi and truffles from the woodland surrounding Villa Lena and the freshest seasonal ingredients from the Villa Lena Orto.

Half-Term at Villa Lena

Throughout the October half term, Villa Lena will partner once again with Oppidan Education – a UK-based mentoring company – to create an exciting and educational camp for kids of all ages. The program is in line with Oppidan’s main goal to take learning outside the classroom, with each day providing a unique program of games and challenges. The Villa Lena x Oppidan Camp will take place from 25th – 29th October.

Guests of all ages will be able to get involved in the unique creative programme with pumpkin carving on offer as well as creative workshops led by artist Anais Hazo. ‘Nourishing Vocabularies’ is inspired by the game Exquisite corpse where participants will create a collaborative collage of shapes, colours and textures inspired by seasonal foods.

Parents will be able to take full-advantage of all that Villa Lena has to offer, with their own programme of activities that seamlessly capture an authentic and immersive Italian experience. From fermentation lessons, olive oil tastings and cooking workshops, to guided hikes and outdoor yoga, there are endless opportunities for all guests to relax and revive themselves.

Situated in the rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside, Villa Lena is a one-of-a-kind agriturismo destination that combines holiday accommodation, a new farm-to-table restaurant helmed by Villa Lena Chef Marco Baldeschi and a not-for-profit art foundation. Creativity is at the heart of Villa Lena, with families being offered a unique, dynamic and sun-filled autumnal holiday experience.
