The genesis of the Montmartre en Chansons adventure

A Parisian for about ten years, Anne-Sophie Guerrier has been living in Montmartre for over four years, a neighbourhood of artists for which she had a real crush. Passionate about French Chanson and the lives of singers who still serve as models for her today, she is interested in their careers and life stories. She first confronted one of the most difficult and important stages in the capital, the Paris metro.

In 2020, due to the pandemic, it became impossible for her to continue her activity in the metro. She then had the idea to perform in the street. As a street artist, she realised the difficulty of stringing together an entire repertoire without a microphone and without accompaniment. Anne-Sophie then decided to sing refrains interspersed with anecdotes about Montmartre artists. After extensive research on their lives and their mark on the neighbourhood, a circuit took shape on the places where they lived and performed. She invited friends and family to test her creation: enthusiastic, they encouraged her to start!

In August 2021, she launched the “Montmartre en Chansons” tours. These being suspended in winter, Anne-Sophie adapted “Montmartre en Chansons” to the theatre.

“What is incredible is that my professional career stems from my choice to live in Montmartre.”
