10 Things To Do in Northern Ireland (August 26 – September 1)

Here are ten exciting things taking place this week (26 August- 1 September):

1. The Ould Lammas Fair, Ballycastle, 24-27 August. Every year thousands flock to Ballycastle for Ireland’s oldest fair. The seaside town bustles with street trading, bargaining, traditional music, dancing, horse trading, amusements, artisan markets and much more.
2. The Stena Line Belfast Giants vs Augsburger Panther, Belfast, 31 August.  The Stena Line Belfast Giants take on Augsburger Panther in the Champions Hockey League at the SSE Arena. Don’t miss a minute of the action and see the greatest game played on ice.
3. Bangor Christian Heritage Walk, Bangor, 27 August. Trace the steps of canons, priests and pilgrims on a walking tour which encompasses visits to Bangor Abbey, First Bangor Presbyterian Church and North Down Museum.
4. Waterside Half Marathon, Derry~Londonderry, 1September. The 38th Waterside Half Marathon returns to the city. Starting in Ebrington Square, the route will once again take runners across the river to the city, showcasing its parks, greenways and bridges before finishing at St Columb’s Park.
5. Steam Train Sunday Afternoon Tea, Downpatrick, 1 September. Climb aboard for a traditional afternoon tea and nostalgic journey through the beautiful County Down countryside on board a beautifully restored steam train departing from Downpatrick train station.
6. Siege of Carrickfergus, Carrickfergus, 26 August.  This spectacular event will take place against the backdrop of the famous Norman Castle. Re-enactors from across Northern Ireland and Scotland will bring history to life, dressed in period costume, during a fun day to mark the anniversary of the Siege of Carrickfergus.
7. Carnival of Colours 2019, Derry~Londonderry, 31 August – 1 September. The Carnival of Colours is a two day circus, music and arts festival in Brooke Park, which showcases local and international circus, theatre, arts and music talent
8. Bluegrass Omagh 2019, Omagh, 30 August – 1 September. Award-winning American and European bands and performers will descend on the Ulster American Folk Park to join acclaimed acts from across Ireland including Chris Jones & The Night Drivers, Hoot & Holler, Bill and the Belles and Front Country.
9. The Glenarm Festival of Voice, Glenarm, 30 August – 1 September.  Join Northern Ireland Opera and Radio 3 for this weekend festival of singing, with six events over three days in and around the beautiful village of Glenarm on the North Coast of Antrim.
10. Jawbox Sip & Paint Evening with Aly Harte , Belfast, 29 August. Create your own gin themed painting masterpiece whilst enjoying Jawbox’s famous gin, as part of the Jawbox Summer Takeover at The Chelsea.
