Norwegian Set to Take Off From Belfast

Belfast International Airport will have a replacement service New York service in the next few months - if things go according to plan.

Low cost airline Norwegian, which recently acquired an operating licence for services from Shannon and Cork to the US, will begin flying a new route from BIAL to the Big Apple. A service to Boston is also planned.

More Details of December Flight to New York

Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks have released more information about the launch of the company's first ever flight to New York from Belfast International Airport on Thursday, December 14 this year.

The announcement comes as good news for Northern Ireland holidaymakers following the cancellation earlier this month of the only direct service to New York.

Big Turnout of Agents for Spanish TB Dinner

Almost 50 local travel agents were entertained to dinner by the Spanish Tourist Board in the Titanic Centre on the eve of the 25th Anniversary Holiday World.

At lunchtime the local Travel Press were hosted to a lunch by the STB led by Agustin Garcia from the STB's London office.

Turkish Goes Back to 14 Flights Weekly

Turkey has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons recently, but Turkish Airlines which operates a daily service from Dublin to Istanbul and onward to more than 200 worldwide destinations has good news to reveal.

The airline is returning to its full 14 flights a week Dublin-Istanbul service in March. The service was reduced to 10 a week a few months ago.

Tunisia Still Flying the Flag Despite Travel Ban

Many visitors to Belfast Holiday World at the weekend will have been surprised to see the Tunisian Tourist Board stand in the exhibition area.

Tunisia is still out of bounds to UK travellers because of the Foreign Office directive which has been in force since the terrorist attack on tourists on the beach at Souse in 2015. And all the leading tour operators to the country have not been operating flights from the UK since.

Irish Ferries Order Major New Cruise Ferry

Irish Ferries parent company Irish Continental Group plc has announced an agreement with a major German shipbuilder to construct an ultra modern new cruise ferry costing Euro 144 million.

The huge new cruise ferry will accommodate 1,885 passengers and crew, with a dedicated car deck with capacity for 300 cars, plus 435 cabins and capacity for 165 freight vehicles.

Focus on The Algarve at Belfast Holiday World

The Algarve will be the Focus Destination at this weekend's 25th Anniversary Belfast Holiday World which runs from Friday to Sunday at the Titanic Exhibition Centre.

NI Travellers Happy About Blue Monday

Yesterday (January 16) is widely regarded as the most depressing day of the year, but new research from leading package holiday specialist Jet2holidays suggests that holidaymakers in Northern Ireland are taking it in their stride this year by throwing off the memory of a gloomy 2016 and taking steps to have a happy and action-packed 2017.

With a quarter (24 per cent) of people in Northern Ireland questioned saying they are glad to see the back of 2016, just five per cent expect to feel down on Blue Monday.
