Travel News Flies the Flag at Family Fun Day

The Family Fun Day organised by the Irish Travel Industry took place recently at Wanderers Rugby Club grounds in Dublin.

The event again raised a tidy sum for a number of good causes in the Republic, and while the Northern Ireland Travel Trade didn't field a soccer team this year the Province was represented by Northern Ireland Travel News as one of the sponsors.



Dreamliner Luxury on Way to Windy City

From August 6 travellers to the US have been able to experience the world class travel experience of American Airlines' Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the airline's service between Dublin and Chicago.

The service, which runs until October 28, 2017, boasts a two-class cabin, enabling passengers to experience state-of-the-art amenities including AA's signature Business Suite, one of the roomiest in the industry.



Prime Time TV Star to Host This Year's Awards

Prime time TV star Alexander Armstrong is revealed today as the celebrity guest and host of this year's 26th annual Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Awards.

The Awards, organised by Northern Ireland Travel News and held in association with  Blue Insurance, will be in the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa on Friday, October 20.



Martina Takes Over As Country Manager for United

Martina Coogan has been appointed as the new Country Manager for United Airlines in Northern Ireland and the Republic.

With over 20 years experience in the travel industry, Martina has always been passionate about travel. She has had previous roles with Aer Lingus, Air France, KLM and Delta. She also worked with Travelport Digital.



Belfast City and Dublin Airport Nominated for Prestigious Awards

Belfast, Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports have been nominated in the prestigious World Routes Marketing Awards 2017 which takes place in Barcelona in September.

George Best Belfast City Airport has been nominated alongside Cork and Shannon airports in the under four million passengers category, while Dublin Airport has been nominated in the category of over 25 million passengers.



Cut-Price Offer for Travel Agents at Mauritius Properties

Beachcomber Resorts and Hotels are offering a special deal for Travel Agents at properties in Mauritius.

During the month of September Beachcomber are offering a rate of just 85 Euro per person per night plus tax half board on four, five-star properties.



Symphony Hits the Right Note on Belfast Visit

More than 30 local travel agents were hosted on board Crystal Symphony when the luxury cruise ship called at Belfast on Saturday.

The agents were guests of the Crystal team of Natalie Dorrington, Nan Short and Elaine Gillard.



Last Few Weeks of Trade Voting for Awards

There's only a few weeks left to vote in the Trade categories for this year's Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Awards to be held in the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa on Friday, October 20.

Votes in the 19 Trade categories have to be received by Friday, September 15, and, as an incentive, two complimentary tickets to the Awards will be presented to the sender of the first voting slip drawn out after the closing date.



'Treat Everyone Booking a Package Holiday the Same'

Everyone should enjoy the same level of protection and there is a need for more clarity, says the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), responding to the Government's latest proposals on protecting travellers booking package holidays online.

Enhanced regulations will better protect an extra 10 million UK package holidays booked online, under plans outlined yesterday by the Government's Consumer Minister Margot James.



Enforce a Two-Drink Limit, Says Ryanair

A surge in drunken behaviour in figures from 18 out of 20 police forces obtained by the BBC's Panorama programme has brought a response by leading low cost carrier Ryanair which is calling on UK airports to enforce a two-drink limit.

This comes after it was revealed the number of UK passengers arrested for drunken behaviour increased by 50 per cent in the last year.



Dublin Airport Tops Three Million Passengers in Single Month

Dublin Airport welcomed more than 3.1 million passengers in July, which was a new monthly record for the airport, and a six per cent increase on the same period last year.

July was the first time in Dublin Airport’s 77-year history that more than three million passengers have been recorded in a single month.
