Last Few Weeks of Trade Voting for Awards

There's just a month left to vote in the Trade categories for this year's Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Awards to be held in the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa on Friday, October 20.

Votes in the 19 Trade categories have to be received by Friday, September 15, and, as an incentive, two complimentary tickets to the Awards will be presented to the sender of the first voting slip drawn out after the closing date.



'Treat Everyone Booking a Package Holiday the Same'

Everyone should enjoy the same level of protection and there is a need for more clarity, says the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), responding to the Government's latest proposals on protecting travellers booking package holidays online.

Enhanced regulations will better protect an extra 10 million UK package holidays booked online, under plans outlined yesterday by the Government's Consumer Minister Margot James.



Enforce a Two-Drink Limit, Says Ryanair

A surge in drunken behaviour in figures from 18 out of 20 police forces obtained by the BBC's Panorama programme has brought a response by leading low cost carrier Ryanair which is calling on UK airports to enforce a two-drink limit.

This comes after it was revealed the number of UK passengers arrested for drunken behaviour increased by 50 per cent in the last year.



Dublin Airport Tops Three Million Passengers in Single Month

Dublin Airport welcomed more than 3.1 million passengers in July, which was a new monthly record for the airport, and a six per cent increase on the same period last year.

July was the first time in Dublin Airport’s 77-year history that more than three million passengers have been recorded in a single month.



Taxpayers Alliance Call to Scrap APD

UK families are paying as much as £261 in holiday taxes alone when heading abroad, according to new research.

The survey, by Taxpayers Alliance has found that the average Briton heading abroad now pays £68.71 in taxes, and a family of four heading to Florida could pay as much as four times this amount.



Airlines Close to Record Seat Occupancy Numbers

Airlines have witnessed the biggest growth in passenger traffic since 2005, according to new figures released by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The figures also show that airlines are flying with close to a record number of filled seats.



Seven Seas Cruises for 2019-20 Go on Sale

Travellers can choose among new, enriching and immersive itineraries that range from seven to 131 nights in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, Alaska, Canada and New England, Bermuda and the Caribbean, South America, Asia and Australia and the South Pacific.



Warmer Cruising Campaign Cuts a Cool 40 per cent

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is also launching its new 'Warmer Cruising' campaign tomorrow August 16, August 2017, offering guests up to 40 per cent off a selection of 32 tempting cruises between October 2017 and March 2018, on bookings made up to October 18, 2017 inclusive.

Durations vary from 46 nights to shorter breaks of three and five nights - the perfect 'taster' cruise for those taking a holiday at sea for the very first time.



Travel Trade Fun Day Aiming to Raise Record Amount

Last year's Irish Travel Industry Family Fun Day raised the fantastic amount of 60,000 Euro for charity.

This year the aim of the organisers is to go even higher and aim to reach 70,000 Euro.

Expanding Facilities Brings Up to 70 BIAL Jobs

SSP, a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations worldwide, is embarking on a £2.5 million expansion at Belfast International Airport which will lead to up to 70 new full and part-time jobs.

Most of the work will be at existing airside outlets. The popular Lagan Bar has already been extended at the front and rear, creating seating for an additional 100 customers. In addition, the Starbucks coffee shop will undergo a complete refurbishment.
