New Newcastle Service Starts in September

Eastern Airways is launching a new convenient non-stop service from Belfast City Airport to Newcastle.

From September 1, 2017, the UK regional airline will provide a daily weekday service from the heart of the city to the North East of England.

Earlier this year Eastern Airways started its first ever scheduled services from Belfast City Airport by securing the future of the Isle of Man link with Northern Ireland, following the liquidation of Citywing.

On Mondays to Thursdays, flights will depart Belfast City at 1.45pm, arriving in Newcastle at 2.50pm. Flights will leave Newcastle at 9.45am, landing in Belfast City at 10.50am. Friday services take off from Belfast City at 1.10pm landing in Newcastle at 2.15pm. From Newcastle Friday services depart at 9am, arriving in Belfast City at 10.05am.

Fares start from £59 one way, including taxes and charges and are bookable via the Eastern Airways website, by calling Eastern or through your travel agent.

Last month, it was announced that Belfast City Airport’s largest operator, Flybe, has entered into a partnership with Eastern Airways with the franchise agreement starting on October 29, 2017.

Mathew Herzberg, Eastern Airways’ Head of Commercial, said: “This new non-stop service from Belfast City Airport is not only providing a convenient link to the busy commercial centre of Newcastle, but it’s also the gateway to the rest of the north east of England including Northumberland, Sunderland and Teesside. Our partnership with Flybe from the end of October will also offer greater connectivity on our Belfast City services from the Isle of Man and Newcastle.”

Katy Best, Commercial and Marketing Director at Belfast City Airport, said: “Newcastle has always been a very popular destination for passengers and it is fantastic to once again be able to offer this route from Belfast City Airport.

“Eastern Airways has made a hugely positive impact on the Northern Ireland market since entering in March with its Isle of Man service, and we are delighted that the airline has recognised the market’s potential through the introduction of this flight to Newcastle.

“This announcement comes during what is an exciting period for Belfast City Airport following the positive momentum generated by co-hosting the Routes Europe conference, and we are confident of continuing to grow our UK and European route network further in the future.”

Eastern Airways celebrates its 20th anniversary later this year and has two Embraer 170 and three Embraer 145 jets in its fleet, as well as nine Saab 2000s and is the largest operator in the world of Jetstream 41 aircraft with 17.
