Chance to Win BA Tickets - Just by Voting

Five pairs of British Airways' tickets from Belfast City Airport to London Heathrow are being offered as an incentive for members of the Travelling Public and readers of Northern Ireland Travel News to vote for this year's Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Awards.

This was revealed at the launch of the 2017 Northern Ireland Awards - run by Northern Ireland Travel News in association with Blue Insurance - held earlier this week in Tedfords Kitchen in Belfast city centre.

Draws for the five pairs of tickets will be made from the votes cast by members of the Travelling Public and NI Travel News readers in the different Awards categories.

The public voting slips will be in the coming (June) issue of the paper at the beginning of next month. The paper is available in the hard copy version but can also be read online.

The big news at the Awards launch was the announcement of sponsorship by one of of Northern Ireland's most successful travel companies, Travel Solutions.

Founded and run by local businessman Peter McMinn, the Belfast tour operator will be a new category sponsor for this year's Awards to be held on Friday, October 20 in the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa.

Said Peter: "We are delighted to be a category sponsor at the Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Awards in 2017. The Awards has always been something that brings the Travel Trade together and we are very pleased to be able to help in doing this by sponsoring one of the categories at this year's event. A strong local Travel Trade is beneficial to everyone in the industry and the team at Travel Solutions continue to help and support local travel agents in selling our products."

Jonathan Adair of Northern Ireland Travel News, organisers of the Awards, warmly welcomed Travel Solutions coming on board with valuable sponsorship for the event.

"I have known Peter through the Trade for many, many years so I am especially pleased that he has decided to support the Awards with Category sponsorship.

"We are indebted to all our current sponsors and those who have provided support over the past 26 years, but we are even more pleased to welcome a local company, and a very successful one at that, as a sponsor. Travel Solutions have emerged as a highly successful and high profile tour operator offering a range and quality of product which is a tribute to the Province and the industry here.

"Thankfully we have had wonderful support from the industry over the years - without them the Awards would not have become as successful as they have been."

As usual, a lot of interest on the night will focus on the destination of the specially sculpted World Globe for the Travel Agency of the Year. The big question once again is whether there will be a new name on the plinth on the night or whether it will be one of the previous winners, almost all well-known independents. There will also be an Award for the Best individual shop of a UK Multiple travel company.
