Cruise Line Launches Competition to Find 'Extraordinary Explorer'

Royal Caribbean International has launched a search for an 'extraordinary explorer' to fulfil the company's first Instagram 'Intern-ship of the Seas', as new research confirms that social media is a key source of inspiration in consumer booking habits.

The research, polling 2,000 consumers from Ireland and the UK, was commissioned by Royal Caribbean to determine the role that social media plays in inspiring holiday makers.

Airline Flybe has kicked off 2017 with a refreshed on-board menu which champions Northern Ireland's famous brand of crisps, Tayto.

Limit on Belfast City Seats to be Lifted

The Planning Restriction which limits the number of seats from George Best Belfast City Airport is soon to be lifted.

Local residents groups, which have opposed an increase the number of flights from the airport over many years, say they have seen a letter from Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard to Finance Minister Mairtin O Muilleoir which reveals that the seat cap is set to be lifted.

Dublin Passenger Numbers Nears 28 Million

Passenger numbers at Dublin Airport increased by 11 per cent to a record 27.9 million last year - more than four times the population of the island of Ireland.

Last year's traffic performance exceeded the previous record, which was set in 2015, by more than 2.8 million passengers.

Canaries Most Popular for Christmas Holiday Getaways

ABTA - The Travel Association estimates that more than 4.5 million passengers in the UK are heading abroad over the Christmas and New Year period December 18 to January 2, with the peak travel day predicted to be tomorrow December 23, and Christmas Day expected to be the quietest day for travel.

ABTA is advising customers to leave extra time to get to the airports as the roads will be extremely busy, and to check in advance for any travel restrictions if using public transport.

Ferry Line's Busy Christmas/New Year Period

According to the survey by Travel Counsellors, 92 per cent of holidaymakers would trust the recommendation of a real-life person above an online review site.
