New BA Service to World Capital of Country Music

British Airways is to launch a new direct service route from London Heathrow to the world capital of Country Music in May next year.

The new service to Nashville, Tennessee, will be operated by a 787-8 Dreamliner from Terminal 5 at London Heathrow and will begin on May 4, 2018.

Up to 70 New Jobs to Fill at BIAL

SSP, a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations worldwide, is embarking on a £2.5 million expansion at Belfast International Airport which will lead to up to 70 new full and part-time jobs.

Most of the work will be at existing airside outlets. The popular Lagan Bar has already been extended at the front and rear, creating seating for an additional 100 customers.

Fare Offers on Holyhead and Pembroke Routes

Motorists seeking Summer savings on fares to Britain will be buoyed by the recent price promotion from Irish Ferries that sees 20 per cent reductions on Irish Sea sailings from August 7 to December 15 next.

Valid on new reservations made before next Tuesday, August 15, the offer applies to all fast ferry and cruise ferry sailings on the Company's Dublin to Holyhead and Rosslare to Pembroke routes, excluding the 11:50 and 14:30 Swift sailings in July and August.

New Daytime Service from Dublin to Athens

Aegean are extending their Dublin-Athens direct service through until January 8 with the operation of a twice weekly daytime service.

"We are extending our direct Dublin-Athens flights through until 8th January and changing the flight times to make them daytime flights instead of the overnight flight," said Lynda Betsch, Country Manager UK and Ireland for Aegean, a Star Alliance member.

Urgent Action Needed on Airport Queueing Chaos

UK and Irish passport holders have been advised to arrive earlier for their flights, especially this coming weekend, because of the new extra security checks on travellers from outside the Schengen area.

Ryanair is already advising its passengers to arrive three hours before departure and UK Ministers have vowed to raise the airport queueing chaos with their EU counterparts.

Big Difference in the Cost of Inflight Menus

The Consumer Council for Northern Ireland has found huge differences in the price of fare on in-flight menus in a new survey. The research was initiated to see if costs are really 'sky high' on some airlines or 'down to earth'.

The Council examined the costs of snacks and beverages from airlines flying in and out of Northern Ireland and found price differences of up to 75 per cent, with in general northern European carriers the most expensive and not surprisingly perhaps central European low cost carrier Wizz Air the cheapest in five of the seven categories assessed.

Flybe Puts Summer 2018 Seats on Sale

Flybe, Europe's largest regional airline, has put on sale its 2018 summer schedule which features 14 routes to the UK mainland with a choice of up to 277 weekly departures from George Best Belfast City Airport.

Seats are now on sale from £27.99 one way including taxes and charges on the Flybe website and currently available for travel between March 25 and June 17, 2018.
