Finnair's Flagship Aircraft on London Helsinki

Finnair has announced that their flagship long haul aircraft, the Airbus A350 XWB will operate a daily service between London Heathrow and Helsinki replacing the current Airbus A320 aircraft on the route.

From March 27, 2017 passengers travelling on flights AY832 between London and Helsinki and AY831 between Helsinki and London will be able to enjoy long haul levels of comfort and space on board the world's most modern commercial aircraft throughout the short flight of 2 hours and 55 minutes.

Tour Guide Wins Experience of a Lifetime!

A tour guide from Dublin has won the experience of a lifetime, after being selected from over 75,000 UK and Irish applications to travel the world over a three week period as Royal Caribbean International's official Instagrammer.

Lucky Ciara Flynn, who earns a living working as a tour guide for European coach network Busabout, will spend three weeks travelling three oceans, on three ships this summer; with all of her food, drink, accommodation, entertainment, flights and expenses covered by Royal Caribbean. In addition, the budding snapper will also receive £3,000.

Schiphol Airport Set to Introduce Ultraviolet Scanners

Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam will become the first in the world to use new ultraviolet scanners to detect explosives and drugs in shoes.

The non-invasive Delta R scanner was created by Stage Gate (SG) 11 and is designed to detect explosives and drugs without human involvement.

100 Jobs on Offer at Belfast International Airport

Companies operating at Belfast International Airport are taking part in a major Job Fair in west Belfast as they seek to fill 100 vacancies.

Hundreds of people are expected to attend the event at St Mary's University College, Falls Road, Belfast on Thursday, February 23, 4pm-7pm, when a total of eight companies will set out what's available.

Four New Vessels Planned for Belfast Routes

Stena Line is planning to add four new vessels to it's Irish Sea routes to and from it's expanding Belfast hub.

Last year the ferry company announced a newbuild contract of four RoPax ferry vessels with a planned delivery schedule during 2019 and 2020. The contract also contained an option for another four vessels to be ordered. These four vessels are being built at the AVIC Shipyard in China and the plan is to locate the vessels on Irish Sea routes.

Holidaymakers Happy for Airlines to Weigh Passengers

After Hawaiian Airlines won the right to weigh its passengers at check in, research has revealed that 61 per cent of British holidaymakers would also welcome these measures.

According to a poll of over 3,500 British holidaymakers, conducted by travel extras specialist HolidayExtras.com, a quarter of people were behind the plans for safety reasons and 15 per cent thought that heavier passengers should be charged extra at check in - a view that is held by almost twice as many men than women.
