Belfast International Airport Security Staff Receive Stoma Training

Respond Healthcare, the leading supplier of stoma and continence prescription services across Northern Ireland, has carried out specialist training with security staff at Belfast International Airport with the aim of creating awareness of people travelling with stomas.

A stoma is an opening made on the abdomen through which bodily waste can pass into a stoma bag and in Northern Ireland there are approximately 10,000 people living with stomas at any one time with around 1,000 new cases every year spread across all of the healthcare trusts.

New US Travel Security Measures Take Effect from Today

Travellers to the United States are being warned of new security measures including stricter passenger screening which take effect today (Thursday October 26).

The new Seamus Heaney HomePlace visitor attraction in Bellaghy, which welcomed 40,000 visitors in its first year, was a big winner at the 26th Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Awards, organised by Northern Ireland Travel News in association with Blue Insurance.

The Awards gala, attended by more than 430 decision makers from the travel and tourism industry in the UK and Ireland, was hosted by Alexander Armstrong, presenter of BBC 1's Pointless quiz show, in the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa, Newcastle.
