EHIC Health Card Could be Retained After Brexit - ABTA

Brexit does not necessarily mean that UK passport holders have to lose the EHIC health treatment card - according to ABTA.

The travel organisation was responding to a statement by Brexit Minister David Davies at the Brexit Select Committee replying to a question from Hilary Benn, MP, who asked: "Can you confirm that UK citizens would no longer have access to the EHIC health treatment card?"

Airline Launches TT Specials to the Isle of Man

The new operator from Belfast City Airport, Eastern Airways has introduced weekend flights during the Isle of Man TT to meet high demand for services between Belfast City and the Isle of Man.

The UK regional airline, which started the Belfast City-Isle of Man route on Monday this week, has now added weekend flights for May 27 and 28, June 3 and 4, and June 10 and 11, 2017.

Nine New French Destinations Via Southampton

Flybe has launched a new weekend leisure hub operating via Southampton Airport that, as part of its 2017 Summer schedule, makes it possible for Northern Ireland passengers to travel to nine French destinations.

Malta Fare Offer and Blast for Government

Ryanair today launched its Belfast 2017 winter schedule and at the same time called on the Government to follow the Irish example and scrap APD entirely to allow traffic, tourism and jobs to grow, and ensure that UK regional airports can compete and attract more business, particularly in the face of Brexit uncertainty. At the same time it announced a fare offer on its new flight to Malta.

The airline's winter 2017 schedule will deliver one new route to: Malta (twice weekly), 12 routes in total, 61 weekly flights, 1.3 customers per annum and 975 on site jobs p.a.

'Million Airline Seats Lost Due to Budget' Claim

Belfast International Airport says that Northern Ireland is losing more than a million additional airline seats with the potential of creating over 750 new jobs because of the failure by the Chancellor to cut the rate of Air Passenger Duty (APD) in his Budget.

Airport Managing Director, Graham Keddie, said the only people cheering at the Chancellor’s decision to retain APD at current levels were airport executives and Ministers in the Republic of Ireland.
